Victory returns to the Bernabeu as Madrid beat Alaves 2-1 !
Real Madrid will once again face the team from the Basque country at the Bernabeu on La Liga matchday 33. Real Madrid have won all 8 of their previous meetings however Madrid have also not been able to keep a clean sheet in their last 7 matches. Madrid have conceded only 2 goals in their last 5 encounters at home whilst scoring a total of 16. This was the fist match for Los blancos after their defeat to Bayern Munich in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals and Arbeloa will be looking to bounce back quickly and focus on the home title.
Kylian Mbappe wakes Real Madrid with a right foot strike after 30 minutes of play. After not scoring in his last 8 league games Mbappe finally ads to the scoreboard, 1-0. Unfortunate timing for Vini who would have scored the second goal of the match if not for referee blowing the whistle due to a build-up foul.
The second half kicks of with a bit of a lull but is quickly turned around when Vinicius gets his second chance at a goal with a brilliant strike which this time sticks bringing the scoreboard to 2-0. With Madrid dominating both halfs of this game almost twice as much as Alaves and with 16 total shots compared to 6 the score clearly portrays how badly Real Madrid want to win this match. Despite an early second half goal the rest proves to be lacklustre until Antonio Martinez scores in extra time with only a few seconds left ! With 3 minutes added and the whistle blown, the scoreboard ended with a 2-1.
Madrid have managed to now secure another 3 crucial points with tonights win, which now puts them only 6 points behind the current leaders, Barcelona. The fight for the La Liga title is closer and closer for Los Blancos.
