Real Madrid v Oviedo

La Liga

Madrid bring victory back home with a 2-0 win against Oviedo.

Madrid faced and already relegated team Ovideo tonight at the Bernabeu. Having met for the first time during a club friendlies back in 2012 in Oviedo which ended with a 5-1 win for Madrid and only once in La Liga in August 2025 again away with a clean sheet 3-0 victory for Los Blancos, they now face each other for the third time at the Bernabeu.

With few chances and shots from Madrid, first half was still a goalless first half until the 44th minute when finally Gonzalo makes an on the minute play and strikes the ball curling it into the back of the net simply leaving Oviedo goalkeeper no chance for a save. This is now his 5th goal this season for LaLiga.

With twice the amount of possession and shots taken, Madrid manage to end the first half ahead of Oviedo. The whistles and boo’s can be heard when Mbappe enters the pitch, the pressure from the Madridistas can be felt on the Frenchmen who has produced little in recent matches for Madrid. The Englishman produces a powerful goal after an assist from Mbappe. After just coming on the pitch for 15 minutes, Bellingham scores the second goal of the night for Real Madrid.

Having ultimately won with a 2-0 after the whistle blew with no extra time given by the referee, which seems to be more common this season. Madrid still have to games left this season, the final one at the Bernabeu on May 23.

This match was an extra special experience for myself personally as I had attended it as a photographer which allowed me to really feel and see all the action from the pitch side and through a lens. The fast pace of the game meant I had to constantly by hyper vigilant to not any action, moments or goals.

Attending as photographer when they had scored two goals was a separate event in itself as trying to capture the atmosphere of the fans and players was a new task I was learning instantly. Overall, being photographer for the day at the Bernabeu was a once in a lifetime experience I would hope to repeat again.
